Free keyword idea generator
Enter a topic to get hundreds of keyword ideas from Google's own search suggestions: the questions people ask, buying keywords and long-tail phrases, for the country you choose. Download them to Excel.
How the keyword ideas are found
The tool asks Google for its autocomplete suggestions about 50 times: your keyword on its own, followed by every letter from a to z, after question words (how, what, why…) and with buying words (best, cost, vs, near me…). Suggestions Google gives in several of those searches are listed first.
- Questions: ideal for blog posts, FAQs and answers that AI search tools quote.
- Buying keywords: searches with price, "best", "agency", "near me" or "services" in them. People typing these are close to buying.
- Comparisons: "vs" and "alternative" searches, great for comparison pages.
- Related: everything else Google suggests about the topic.
Google doesn't share search volume for free, so none is shown or estimated. Next step: check where your site ranks for the ideas you like.
Questions about keyword research
Where do these keyword ideas come from?
From Google's own search suggestions: the phrases Google offers while people type. The tool asks Google about 50 variations of your topic (your keyword plus every letter, question words and buying words) and groups what comes back.
Does it show search volume?
No. Google doesn't publish search volume for free. Every idea here is a phrase real people type often enough for Google to suggest it, and ideas Google suggested in several variations are listed first. For volume ranges, check them in Google Keyword Planner (free with a Google Ads account).
Which keywords should I target first?
Start with longer phrases (three words or more) that match what you sell and questions your buyers ask. They have less competition than one or two word terms and bring visitors who are closer to buying.
Can I see where my site ranks for these keywords?
Yes. Click "Check rank" next to any idea to open the keyword rank checker with that keyword filled in.
Is the keyword idea generator free?
Yes, with no sign-up. You can download every idea to Excel.
