How the estimate works

The calculator scores your scope (platforms, volume, video, response times and reporting) and places it in the price band that 2026 pricing guides report for that scope. The full breakdown, with what each budget buys and the red flags to avoid, is in my social media management pricing guide.

Questions about social media budgets

How much should a small business budget for social media management?

Most small businesses in the US and Canada pay $500 to $2,000 a month for one or two platforms and about 8 to 12 posts, according to 2026 industry pricing guides. Growth programs on two or three platforms usually cost $2,000 to $5,000.

Does this budget include paid ads?

No. Ad spend goes straight to Meta, LinkedIn or TikTok. Managers usually charge a separate fee of about 10 to 20 percent of ad spend, which the calculator adds when you enter an ad budget.

Why is a freelancer cheaper than an agency?

A freelancer or consultant has lower overheads and does the work personally. An agency adds a team, backup coverage and more skills (video, design, ads), which costs more.

How accurate is this estimate?

It is a planning range based on published 2026 pricing guides, not a quote. Real prices depend on your industry, approval steps, content production and the provider's experience.
